Holy Cross Knights Support Breast Cancer Awareness

Students at Holy Cross High School united in an effort to raise money for foundations dedicated to education and research concerning the causes, treatment and cure for breast cancer through the sale of student-designed t-shirts.

The $10 shirts were designed by seniors Matthew Bedrossian, Peter Velez, and Thomas White, and feature the phrase "Holy Cross Knights Fight for the Women in their Lives.”  Shirts were available for sale to the Holy Cross community in early February, and those students who made a purchase became eligible to sport the new garment during a dress-down day on February 10th.

These Holy Cross freshmen are wearing t-shirts designed by seniors.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Holy Cross students have rallied for the cause, last year alone raising some $7000.  The project is spearheaded by Cathy Kenny, Junior class moderator and coordinator of the Science Research Program at the school, who is herself a breast cancer survivor. "There is so much compassion and spirit in the young men of Holy Cross and this initiative,” she said. "As is the case in all of our ‘serve and learn’ programs at Holy Cross, the Knights for a Cure program provides our outgoing seniors with a better understanding of this disease as they continue on life’s journey and our incoming freshmen will be welcomed into the educational process.”
